Gallery view of my current exhibit from the Fotofilmic AFMP III group show , which is also the first exhibit for my long-form photo series, The Promised Land. The exhibit opened on Bowen Island, BC this summer and is headed to Paris to be remounted at Le Marais Gallery during Paris Photo this fall.
The archive I’ve created for The Promised Land photo series currently sits at around 10,000 images (which is insane and possibly embarrassing) with a working edit of about 100 images. Designing the most miniature version of my project possible for a group show was a rewarding challenge in distilling its themes into the concentrated form of a diptych (as seen above).
Having your ideas and your work exist (trapped?) within the confines of a computer screen, your brain, floating in the ether…. and then exporting those ideas into the physical realm as objects is a bizarre experience. So much effort over the past six years has gone towards capturing this idea, only to then release it into the wild blue yonder of being seen and experienced as it will.
