I photographed a New York Times Story on my birthday this year about a new Civil Rights Exhibit at Temple Beth El, the site of an attempted bombing in 1958. The exhibit is an interactive experience, and I was impressed by its unique avoidance of portraying a typical “heroes and villains” narrative, instead focusing inbetween those binaries, challenging modern day ambivalence by looking deeper into the complex past and investigating smaller decisions that have potential to bring about profound change.
